Dr. Jamie Long
Hi! I'm Dr. Jamie Long, a clinical psychologist licensed by the state of Florida. I'm passionate about helping individuals improve mental health and psychological wellness.
I'm proud to be the owner of The Psychology Group Fort Lauderdale, a group practice of talented therapists offering a full range of therapy services.
The Psychology Group is a group of real-life therapists held to the highest standards of care so that you can receive compassionate, quality, evidence-based therapy. We are your local, neighborhood therapy practice with a brick-and-mortar location. Our practice is not a therapy app, a Big Tech virtual platform, or a coworking space.
Rest easy by knowing that our team of professionals is held to the highest of standards of care so that you can receive the best therapy. We are successful because of our specialization in evidence-based practices and an unwavering commitment to thoughtfully individualized care.
It can feel uneasy to reach out to a psychologist/therapist especially when, generally speaking, your life might be pretty good. I'm glad you're here. You deserve to take time for yourself and your wellness.
Are you usually the one helping everyone else with life's problems? Do you want to be healthier? Is it hard to feel present in your life? Perhaps you want to like yourself more, enjoy your life more, or feel proud of your behaviors and actions.
If the above looks like you, imagine feeling like your best self. That's what my clients experience shortly after starting therapy. Nowadays, there are many strategies to help improve our lives (stuff that's actually been studied by real life scientists!) I'm excited to share these tools with you.

My therapy approach utilizes evidence-based practices. As an eclectic psychologist, I incorporate various psychological interventions with an emphasis on my areas of specialty: CBT, ACT, DBT skills, and The Gottman Method.Specialties
My therapy specialties are in the treatment of eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and relationships. Although I utilize numerous strategies to help my clients achieve their goals, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills (DBT skills), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) are my preferred treatment approaches and I hold advanced training in these therapy modalities.
As an eating disorder specialist, I received expert training during my clinical experience in university counseling centers and at The Renfrew Center — a comprehensive residential eating disorders program located in Coconut Creek, Florida.
At The Renfrew Center, I began as a post-doctoral resident then was invited to join senior staff as a supervisor and manager. I developed patient programming and trained numerous clinicians and student interns. I'm dedicated to eating disorder awareness and have spoken at several training seminars and advocacy events within the community. Since 2008, I've provided individual, couples, family and group therapies for adolescents and adults with eating disorders and co-occurring disorders within my private practice.
Both my Master's and Doctoral degrees were awarded from Nova Southeastern University – Center for Psychological Studies. I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology.
I've also served as a university professor, career counselor, researcher, writer, and even a professional food critic. Click here to make an appointment or contact me.
If I'm not able to work with you, one of my talented therapists from my group practice, The Psychology Group will be able to help you reach your goals.
